An assignment where we were supposed to imitate the techniques from a given art movement. Mine was Impressionism --- my favorite art movement. I chose the school pond because Impressionism was based mainly on catching the reflection of light on canvas and water was a common subject in the Impressionists' art works (esp. Monet). I was quite pleased with it, since it was my first attempt at oil painting. I love the transparency and the reflection in the clear waters as well as the realistic mix of colors of the rocks. However, more could be done with the ripples in the water and the background of the field and building.
